What is an escape room?

An escape room is a live-action entertainment experience where players are locked in a room for full of puzzles and clues, and have to use their wits to uncover the mysteries of the room and escape before the 60-minute clock expires.

Will I really be locked in a room?

For your peace of mind, our rooms are equipped with commercial-grade access control systems that allow players to come and go as they please during the game by pressing a button.  However, to successfully "escape" the room, you must find the key or code that is hidden in the room.

Do you accommodate corporate groups or larger parties?

Absolutely! We can accommodate team building events for up to 70 people at a time. We offer custom start times Monday - Friday from 10:00a - 1:30p.  Parties of over 70 can also be accommodated, but will be divided into multiple start times.  Custom start times are only available for groups of 10 or more. 

At this time, we do not offer space for meeting rooms or catering services.

What's the procedure for a tax exempt purchase?

Tax-exempt parties should email their tax exempt form to info@memphisescaperooms.com prior to booking a room. We will issue a tax exempt code for use at the time of purchase. Please do not attempt to purchase the tickets without this code as we cannot issue refunds after a purchase has been made.

Is there an age limit?

The level of difficulty ranges from puzzle to puzzle—what stumps an adult, may require a youthful imagination. Children 8-14 are allowed to play, but must be accompanied by a paying adult participant (21 and older).  

There's nothing scary or inappropriate in any of our rooms, but we find that they tend to be pretty difficult for people under age 8.

Parents are welcome to wait with their baby in our lobby while the participating group is in the room.


Which entrance should I use? Where should I park?

The best entrance is located down an exterior stairwell, which is covered by a red awning.  Just look for the Memphis Escape Rooms sign on the building, and follow the arrow!  Once inside the building, you'll find us straight down the hallway.  Our handicap accessible entrance is located on the backside of the building.  Please call us when you arrive for help using this entrance. 

Free parking is available on the south side of the building (or behind the building if you are approaching from Poplar). Feel free to park in any undesignated parking space.  Carpooling is recommended.

How many can play? Can we add extra people?

All of our rooms allow up to 8 players per room.  You can buy a single ticket, but to maximize your fun and chances of escaping, we recommend a minimum of 4 players.  The only way to ensure a private experience for your group is to buy all 8 tickets.

If you've booked all 8 tickets for Shadow Manor, The Mayflower, What's In The Box?, Atlas 8, or Memphis, we will allow you to add up to 2 additional guests when you arrive.  Just be prepared to pay for your additional guests by credit card when you arrive.  This option is not currently available for Parallax or Mayflower II.

Do I have to do obstacle course-like challenges?

Our puzzles are designed to test your mental agility and problem solving skills. Some rooms may require you to dip, duck or scoot in order to solve a puzzle, but no heavy sweating required.

Is this like a haunted house, or what?

No, we have no intention of scaring you. Though the plot itself may be a bit chilling, we’re not trying to be a haunted house. Some rooms may feature elements such as lasers, fog and/or other thematic elements, but no one is going to jump out and frighten you.

Do I need prior knowledge before entering the room?

No. All of our rooms can be solved using the clues found within the room. All you need is your brain and great teamwork to solve the multitude of challenges you will encounter.


Is our appointment a hard time or do we have a grace period?

We have to remain punctual for groups that come after yours.  As a rule, your 60 minutes will begin at your scheduled start time, even if members of your group are not present.  Late arriving teams/team members may join the live room when they arrive.

Please plan to arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled time to check-in.

Do you allow refunds?

Tickets are non-refundable. If you need to reschedule your booking for some reason, please give us at least 5 days notice to do so. If it's too close to your appointment date, we may not be able to accommodate your request.
